Week #12

This week I’m going to review several other blogs. I plan on looking at a few guitar blogs and a few lifting or running blogs. I’ll share what I like and don’t like and will try to incorporate some things into my blog posts in the future. .

GuitarTricks.com

Guitartricks is a blog about guitars. It has many different types of posts all relating to guitars. Chords, beginner lessons, guitar care can all be found on their website. I like how each post has a high quality picture relating to the post. When you click on on of their posts its organized very well. It’s easy for your eyes to flow through the post. They also have graphics to help readers understand the content easier. I don’t like how their home page feels messy. There’s a lot of content and it is hard to find what you want. I wish it was organized better.

GuitarWorld.com

Guitarword is a blog aimed at people who play guitar and want to stay updated about guitar news, gear, and artists. Similar to guitartricks.com the home page feels very busy. When I opened it I didn’t know where to look. Theres a lot of content and it feels like theres little organization. There are large ads that take up a sizeable part of the home page and I feel that I makes it look cheap. I like that each post has multiple pictures not just cover photos. When clicking on a post, the page is glitchy being there were so many ads and ad videos trying to load and play. I realize that’s how they make money but it takes away from their content.

Healthylivingheavylifting.com

This blog is focused around living a healthy lifestyle. It has information about diet, weight training, endurance training, weight loss, and weight gain. On the home page I like the layout. It has easy to use tabs to help you find what you are looking for. They also have a search bar where you can find articles about very specific topics. This website feels and looks very clean. It’s very organized and everything fits well. There are no messy ads or popups. It feels very professional. I like the navigation feature using different tabs. I don’t like that there isn’t a way to read about specific topics. The blog posts are listed by how recently they were posted. I wish they added a way to browse different categories.
